The Brady Urological Institute at Johns Hopkins, long-ranked the top urology department in the United States, has been a pioneer in the field and was the first institution to perform landmark operations, including the first radical prostatectomy, perineal prostatectomy, the nerve-sparing radical retropubic prostatectomy, transurethral resection of the prostate, ureteroscopy, and laparoscopic live donor kidney transplant. Hopkins urologists have extensive expertise in a variety of other surgical techniques, including urologic reconstruction, laparoscopy, treatment of kidney stone disease, micro surgery for infertility, vasectomy reversal, minimally invasive techniques to treat kidney disease, treatment of urinary incontinence, hypospadius, and bladder exstrophy reconstruction.
